About Prof Dushantha Madegedara
Prof. Rathnayake Mudiyanselage Dushantha Madegedara is a highly respected Consultant Respiratory Physician at the Respiratory Disease Treatment Unit and Teaching Hospital in Kandy, Sri Lanka. He completed his medical education at the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka, graduating with an MBBS in 1991. Prof. Madegedara further obtained an MD in General Medicine from the University of Colombo in 1999.
Prof. Madegedara is recognized as a fellow by several esteemed institutions, including the Ceylon College of Physicians (FCCP, 2007), the College of Chest Physicians USA (FCCP, 2009), and the Royal College of Physicians Edinburgh (FRCP, 2010).
Throughout his career, Prof. Madegedara has been actively involved in research, with numerous publications and presentations to his name. His work spans various aspects of respiratory medicine, including tuberculosis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and interstitial lung diseases. Prof. Madegedara has contributed significantly to the field through his roles as a reviewer for multiple medical journals and his extensive research presented at national and international conferences.
He has been an integral part of many studies and has received recognition for his contributions to medical science, particularly in the areas of tuberculosis control, respiratory disease, and the impacts of chemotherapy on tuberculosis treatment outcomes. Dr. Madegedara continues to advance respiratory medicine in Sri Lanka through his clinical expertise, research, and dedication to patient care.
